There are many different wedding dress styles and silhouettes. You have the option of buying a long gown, short gown, A-line, or ball gowns. Dresses come in many price ranges giving you the freedom to choose from all different styles that fit your budget. If your budget allows, you can purchase more than one gown: a longer gown for the ceremony and a shorter gown for the reception.
One thing to consider, should you decide to buy two dresses, is to make sure that both have matching embellishments and designs or it may look gaudy. Choose accessories and shoes that will work with both dresses so you aren’t spending more money on additional accessories for two completely different looks. Take your budget into consideration and take it seriously because, if buying two dresses along with accessories is going to break the bank, don’t do it.
There are many advantages of going with a short wedding dress over a long wedding dress. While longer dresses or ball gowns will make you elegant and will definitely catch the attention of your guests, a short dress is much more comfortable and holds a lot less weight. Short dresses are perfect for destination weddings and beach weddings. Most times destination and beach weddings are held in locations that are much warmer than in the bride’s home state making a short dress a much better choice. It will be much cooler, a lot lighter and suits those types of weddings much better overall. You will also spend a lot less money than if you were to buy a longer dress. Make sure the short wedding dress fits your body type otherwise it may not be aesthetically appealing.
If you are planning an informal wedding, a very small intimate wedding or even just going in front of a judge, a short wedding dress may be the right choice. Short wedding dresses are very modern and stylish and have become much more popular amongst brides-to-be. They have become more popular because of their trendy, modern style and the convenience of not having a lot of bulk weighing you down. Another reason why many brides-to-be may choose a short wedding dress is because they don’t want to go along with the tradition of wearing a long wedding dress.
One of the main reasons why brides opt for a short wedding dress is for the simple reason that it can be worn both during the ceremony and after the ceremony. Many brides tend to spend a lot of money on long wedding gowns with a very long train that is suitable for a church wedding without realizing how difficult it will be to “party in it” after the fact at the reception. Short dresses give you that freedom to both be elegant enough for a church ceremony yet still comfortable enough to dance the night away at your after-party. Also, the fear of tripping down the aisle in a longer wedding dress isn’t a problem with a short wedding dress.
Many amazing wedding gown designers are now launching short wedding dress lines such as Vera Want and Oscar de la Renta. Both of these designers focus on longer styles in their collections yet these short dresses are gaining more and more attention due to their unique styles and ease of movement when wearing the dress.
Probably the most significant advantage to choosing a short wedding dress is that it serves a dual purpose. You can wear it as a wedding dress on your wedding day AND can be work after the fact for a night out on the town or any evening party. Short dresses have many advantages and they aren’t so traditional in nature but they can look just as elegant as long wedding dresses.
